Old Habits…

Wow… I haven’t written here in a while…

I had sort of given up on Blogging in a personal level… Was feeling burnt out with everything going on in life.

So much has happened in the past year that I don’t think I know where I’d start to be honest…

I took a year off, tried to get rid of my wanderlust by backpacking for a year… If feels like I’ve only made it worse when I had to cut it short after injuring my back… Come to think of it… I feel the road is calling again…

I spent 4 months in Brazil… The country has changed so much! And the current president(a) has screwed things up sooooooo much too!

The monkeys have grown so much… Every time I see them they seem to be a little taller or a little more grown up… Still monkeys tho… That I don’t think is changing anytime soon… I’ll elaborate better with time.

I fell in love… Wit a VERY complicated young lady that currently lives 5000 miles away from me… And we had a 1 year long complicated and toxic long distance relationship. It ended about 2 months ago when I found out what we had wasn’t as exclusive as it should be… I can take a beating in a lot of areas… But THAT is one thing I can’t take… Trust… If I can’t trust someone I’m with I can’t be with this someone…

I’ve Reopened UrbanVox limited. We are now focusing in Story Telling. Re-imagining marketing, PR for a Social Media generation… Growing slowly but growing still.

I went back to school! Well… Sorta. I’ve been selected for an MBA Program that will be running until December… So much stuff I have to refresh in my mind and so much new stuff has changed since I left school!

I’ve also met someone new recently… Still VERY early stages and a story I might need to be careful saying to protect her identity if I ever blog about her… But she’s got my full attention… Haven’t smiled so much in a while.

Life has an annoying habit of throwing you curve balls every now and again… Right now I am enjoying it tho… In most aspects of my life… And think I might start blogging here again more often… I have LOTS to tell…

Right now tho, I need to go and have a shower and leave… Have a diary full of appointments for this afternoon… HOORAY!

Hasta la vista….

On Diets

There isn’t much to say… I just hate them!! Hate Them Hate Them Hate them!!!
And After Having tried Ducan for the past week I hate them even more…
I don’t get why would people subject themselves to eat tasteless food for… well… for nothing in the world…
I’m done with it!
I love the flavour in food, the taste of the spices and the the mixture of the ingredients forming a recipe or an experimentation of my own… it like “an orgasm in my mouth” as Livi would say…
I can’t do it… nope… Yes, I’ve lost a little over 4kilos in 5 days… but WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!
Right… Rant over… Diet over! Ce’st Finite… DO NOT RECOMMENT.
Carpe Diem

Yes man!!

Just as a little thought…

Why on earth don’t we say YES more often?!??

I mean… Imagine the possibilities. How far can you get??? The things you can accomplish and the people you could meet and places you could stand your feet at .

Yes can help you conquer fear…

Yes is always yes… Unlike no that can become a maybe with a little persistence… A maybe is a no wanting to be a yes… And a yes… Well… A yes is a yes!

-> use this knowledge wisely… Some NOs do mean no… Just saying…

Do you know the origins of oppression? Well… NO is… No is the word most kids hear most often from the grown ups in their lives… Someone told me this about 10 years ago: And what if Instead of clipping the wings of our children before they can learn to fly we encouraged and empowered them to do so?? They would be limitless!!! Imagine the possibilities!?!?

Yes… I am rambling maybe… But I have decided to say yes more often… I mean… What’s the worst that can happen? I’ll never know if I don’t have a go, right?!?!? So why not???

I think I made my point tho right?!?

So… yes man!!! Lets kick some butt! 😉

The Spirit of Birthdays Past

I’ve been tagged!!!! And as today it’s my Birthday it seems most appropriate that I post this meme today. :-)

The idea has come from Kate at The Five Fs Blog who is collecting birthdate information for all 366 days of the year.

And I’ve been tagged by the beautiful & scrumptious  Sunniva who blogs the most delicious recipes at The Kitchen Mechanic, and was born on 03 June 1975. You can find her explores on her birth date here.

So… Let’s get this party started!!!!

When is your birthday?

21st of March 1980 and I was born by C-Section when a stupid resident tried to induce labour when my mum had a condition called  “infant womb” or something like that, wich prevented her from actually going into labour… Ah… And I had the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck.  The doctor that accompanied my gestation was on holidays and he managed to arrive later that day and I was told that he actually decked the stupid resident to the floor… I don’t know if it was exaggeration… but I kinda like the tale… LOL

Pick three people who share your birthday and share what you know about them.

I know I am supposed to pick 3 PEOPLE that share my birthday… but I can’t resist that because something awesome was born in my birthday: TWITTER!!!!! Yes! Is that awesome or what? Six years ago today, the world was sent its first tweet. With just two words – and far shorter than the 140 character limit – Twitter founder Jack Dorsey was the first human to publicly tackle the microblogging platform’s big question: “What are you doing?” His answer: “Inviting coworkers”… Not very momentuous or glorious but still… a start!!!!

Matthew Broderick was born in New York City on March 21, 1962. He became a star in the 1980s with two  of my favourite films EVER: one as a teenage computer hacker who nearly starts World War III in 1983’sWar Games and what is Broderick’s most iconic role to date in 1986’sFerris Bueller’s Day Off as the smart, smooth-talking teenager who plays hooky, and embarks on a day of adventures in Chicago. Broderick also provided the voice for the adult Simba in Disney’s The Lion King. He returned to the stage in The Producersin 2001. What can I say? the guy is awesome or what?

Johann Sebatian Bach was born March 21, 1685 in Ernestine Saxon Duchies. Although he was admired by his contemporaries primarily as an outstanding harpsichordist, organist, and expert on organ building, Bach is now generally regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time and is celebrated as the creator of numerous masterpieces of church and instrumental music.

He died on July 28, 1750.

Is anyone listed as being born on the same day as you (ie the same year). If so, what do you know about them?

Born in Porto Alegre, Ronaldinho is a footballer who currently plays for Flamengo and the Brazilian national team. As a free-kick specialist, he started off playing for Grêmio, then later for clubs Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Milan. He is a two-time winner of the FIFA World Player of the Year and has also been honored with European Footballer of the Year and FifPro Player of the Year.

I think I only chose him because he is Brazilian like me… but hey… lol!

List three people who died on your birthday and tell us what you know about them?

This first one is definitely a hit with the girls!!!! POCAHONTAS DIED ON MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! Now… there is too much to say about her to simply put it on a little bio like I did with the other people… so here is a little film talking about her:

The next one totally fits in with me and the blog since we both share a love for photography: Gaspard-Félix Tournachon was born April 5, 1820 in Paris. Under the name Nadar, he sold caricatures to humor magazines, then opened a photographic portrait studio. His portraits were a hit, and he began to innovate, building a giant hot air balloon to take the world’s first aerial photograph. He also shot the Paris sewer system under electric light, and experimented with serial photography.

Another think that fits with me a lot is Strategy and war history and so here comes the next dead dude: Joseph Eggleston Johnston was born February 3, 1807 near Farmville, Virginia. At the outbreak of the Civil War he offered his services to Virginia. He was credited with the first important Southern victory at the First Battle of Bull Run. When the Peninsular Campaign began he withdrew to defend Richmond. Severely wounded at the Battle of Fair Oaks.

General Joseph Eggleston Johnston never suffered a direct defeat during the American Civil War despite his long-standing feud with Jefferson Davis.

List three notable events that took place on your birthday.

1961 – Beatles’ 1st appearance at the Cavern Club

1980 – I was born!!!!!!!! That is an awesome fact!!!! admit it!!!! For a start if I hadn;t been born then you wouldn’t be reading this blog!!!!!  😉

1999 – Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones become the first to circumnavigate the Earth in a hot air balloon.

Tell us about a holiday that falls on your birthday.

Spring starts!!!!! HOORAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! :-)

And now to keep this going…

@ukdowney@Eliza_do_Lots@themummylife & @daddacool – consider yourself tagged!!!!!! 😉

On my birthday

It’s all about the Cats

I have always been a Dog sorta guy… ever since I was a little kid.

The first dog in my life was called Toy… He was a HUGE furry black thing that used to belong to one of the neighbours but that has always been around us since I was a little baby… I actually remember mounting it and using it as a dog at some point… and the silly dog would simply get up and walk… hehehehehe…

My first dog was a blue merlow collie called Bluster when I was 5 years old… and from there on I’ve had at least 6 different dogs.

As you can see… I am a dog kinda person… They are loyal, cuddly, always there for you… no wonder they are called a man’s best friend…

Then I met the ex wife… a cat lover… and the most temperamental cat I’ve ever met… Tigger, that for some VERY strange reason decided that liked me… and for some VERY strange reason I kinda liked too… apart from when he would just turn on me because… well… because it wanted… Then Tigger died… it was sad and all but I really thought: no more cats…

No such luck… As my marriage got undone I fell in love with another cat lover… And Hales has 2 cats… not one… So I became the daddy to a couple of felines… The weird thing is… T(the boy) has my temperament… easy going… kinda spaz… playful… clueless… and A(the girl) has Hales temperamental and totally independent personality… Funny uh???? I think is awesome! :)

So basically I now like cats too… Go figure…

But I am not really here to write about my relationship with animals throughout my lifetime… Believe me… I could… I have a lot to say about them… one of them for example is how I HATE to clean the cat liter trays (if you follow my tweets you will know that already as I complain about it there every time I have to clean them up… grumpy old man me… hehehe
